Unlocking Scotland – All about This Popular Holiday Destination

Did you know that the shortest recorded flight in the World took 1 minute and 14 seconds and went from Westray to Papa Westray in the Orkney Islands? Or that the first recorded sighting of the Loch ness monster went as far back as 565AD when Saint Columba, who was walking the shores of the loch, saw a ‘water beast’ meanly eying up an unsuspecting swimmer?

Legend has it that he commanded the beast to turn around and leave the man alone and that the monster ‘fled more quickly than if it has been pulled back with ropes’.  Many people will have heard of Robert Burns the poet but did you know that the song Auld Lang Syne, which he was the first to write down, is the second most popular song in the word after ‘Happy Birthday’?

Whilst many people will eat their Porridge with sugar or syrup you would only every catch a Scotch man eating the traditional flavouring, salt! These are just a handful of fun and interesting facts about this beautiful holiday destination. Check out our infographic for more!
